The EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) is a set of rules, agreed and implemented across all European Union member states, which specifies how tobacco products can be manufactured, presented and sold.
The revised TPD directive was adopted in 2014 and came into force in May 2016.
The TPD bans the sale of cigarette packs of less than 20 and hand rolling tobacco pouches of less than 30gr
Research conducted by Oxford Economics reveals that this will effectively ban 24% of cigarette products and 71% of hand rolling tobacco purchased by smokers in the UK. A copy of the Oxford Economics Report can be downloaded here
