Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Assembly passed legislation requiring the registration of tobacco retailers from July 2016. The requirement to register is part of The Tobacco Retailers Act (Northern Ireland) 2014.

Any retailer who sells tobacco products or cigarette papers must register and any retailer found to be in breach of the law can face prosecution and a fine of up to £5,000.

More information regarding the registration of tobacco retailers in Northern Ireland can be found here. The summary of consultation responses can be found here.
